Environmentally Friendly Announcement

Dear Parents/Guardians:                                                                 

The North Reading Public Schools Food Services Department is pleased to announce that beginning in January 2020, the Department will be using more environmentally friendly products at all five schools in our school district. This includes the elimination of styrofoam trays, cups and soup bowls.  Instead, we will be using more environmentally friendly cardboard trays and products. In addition, the Department will be moving away from plastic straws and instead will have paper straws available. 

Many North Reading parents, staff members, and students at all levels have advocated for this change. We are happy to report that we have implemented the necessary steps to begin phasing out the styrofoam and plastic products and will be using more environmentally friendly products in the new year.
