   Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program  

      Registration begins on January 17, 2024* 

 Registration for the North Reading Public Schools’ Integrated Pre Kindergarten program will begin on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year. Prospective families will be able to access the required registration documents via the district website at that time. Additionally, a link to an informational video detailing the Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program (days/hours/locations/curriculum) will be available for families to view at their convenience. Parents will also have an opportunity to sign up for an optional Pre-K Screening at a later date. 

2024-25 Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Lottery Update: At this time, all available full and half day spaces have been filled for the 2024-25 school year. In the event that any spaces become available between now and the start of the school year, current applicants that chose to remain in the lottery will be notified by the Office of Student Services if they are selected.

 

Beginning on January 17, 2024, the following registration documents are due to the Office of Student Services:

1) Application form

2)Tuition agreement, including appropriate deposit (check/money order)

2) A copy of your child’s birth certificate

3) One form of proof of residency (please see below for acceptable forms of residency)

-Upon acceptance to the program, two additional forms of proof of residency will be required -

Forms must be received by January 19, 2024*, and can be mailed or dropped off to the Office of Student Services,189 Park Street, North Reading, MA 01864.

Please note, if there are more registrants than openings, all available program spaces will be filled via a lottery system.

Frequently Asked Questions about the North Reading Public Schools Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program

The Office of Student Services at North Reading Public Schools would like to address some frequently asked questions regarding our Integrated Pre-Kindergarten program, and is committed to making the transition to Pre-Kindergarten  a successful one for children and families.

Q:  What is an Integrated Pre-Kindergarten program?

The North Reading Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program is a developmentally appropriate early childhood program for children ages 3-5 years old, both with and without disabilities. The goal of our integrated Pre-K program is to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of all students. All teachers in our Pre-K program are highly qualified, holding certification in Early Childhood Education as well as Special Education. In addition to your child’s main teacher, other staff members and service providers work in our Integrated Pre-K program. These professionals may include: paraprofessionals; Speech/Language Therapists; Occupational Therapists; Physical Therapists.

Q: How do I register my child for the Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program?

Registration begins on Wednesday January 17, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year.  Registrants must be three years of age on or before August 31, 2024 to be eligible for enrollment.  

At the time of registration, parents will need to submit a completed application, tuition agreement with accompanying deposit ($100 half day/ $200 full day), copy of child's birth certificate, and one of the following:

Record of recent mortgage payment

and/or property tax bill

Recent bill dated within the past

60 days showing North Reading 

address and name

Valid MA Driver's License
Copy of lease and record of recent rental payment

Valid MA Photo ID card

*Please note, upon acceptance to the program, one form of documentation from each column is required. 

 If there are more registrants than openings, we will enter all registrants into the lottery. All required registration paperwork must be received by the Office of Student Services on or before Friday January 19, 2024.

Applications received after 1/19/2024 will be included in additional lotteries should space become available. 

Q:  What are the hours of operation and locations for the Integrated Pre-Kindergarten program offered by North Reading Public Schools?

Integrated Pre- Kindergarten Half Day Program located at the J.T. Hood Elementary School:

 Morning session: 8:15-11:15 A.M. Afternoon session: 11:30 AM -2:30 P.M.  

Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Full Day Program located at the E.E. Little Elementary School:

Full Day Pre-K hours: 8:30-2:45 P.M.

The Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program is in session on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There are no Pre-K classes held on Wednesday.

Q: What is the cost of North Reading Integrated Pre-Kindergarten program?

 Half day Pre-K tuition is $3,000.00. Full day Pre-K tuition is $6,000.00. At the time of registration, parents will need to provide a $100.00 deposit for half day students, or a $200.00 deposit for full day program.  The subsequent balance is divided into quarterly installments.

Q:  How many students are in each Pre-K classroom?  

 There are a maximum of 15 students in each Pre-Kindergarten classroom.

Early Childhood Developmental Screening Dates:

March 13, 2024 & May 22, 2024*

8:30 am -12:30 pm

The North Reading Public Schools will offer Early Childhood developmental screenings on March 13, 2024 and May 22, 2024 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. This developmental screening is intended for any 3-4 year old child residing in North Reading that is not currently attending the North Reading Public Schools Integrated Pre-Kindergarten Program. Participation in the screening is not mandatory.The screenings are offered free of charge to parents who have concerns for their child in the areas of speech & language, cognition, fine motor or gross motor skills.  The screening activities are designed to assess a child’s development in problem-solving and thinking skills as demonstrated in play, language/ communication, social interaction and adaptive behavior, as well as fine/gross motor skills. Early Childhood developmental screenings are provided to ensure that if necessary, children receive appropriate services prior to entering Kindergarten.
