Credit Recovery

Students should refer to North Reading High School's Handbook for Students and Parents for information on credit recovery.  Please see the section labeled "Outside Courses."

When a student fails a course that is specifically required for graduation, he or she is scheduled to repeat the course.  When a student has lost credits due to having failed courses and is in danger of not being able to earn the credits required to graduate on time (i.e. typically in four school years) he/she may attempt to make up credits at an institution other than North Reading Reading High School.  As stated in the Handbook for Students and Parents, the institution and course(s) must be approved by school administration.  Courses used for credit recovery must be the equivalent of a full-year high school course (i.e. a one credit North Reading High School course).  In certain cases, two half-year courses (i.e. half-credit courses) may be combined.  Please be sure to review the Handbook for additional information regarding the use of outside courses for credit recovery.

For convenience, the following institutions are listed as they offer courses that can be used for credit recovery.  Please remember that institutions and courses must be approved by administration before the student enrolls and completes the course.  There is a form available in the Guidance Department that a student must use to seek and obtain approval for a course.
