Enrichment II Update

Good Morning All,

I just wanted to update you regarding our latest enrichment offerings.

The next session will run over 5 weeks starting January 10, 2017.

We will keep the registration window open until next Friday December 16, 2016

Upon closure of the registration window we will send along an electronic payment link. We will allow payments to be made after the winter break.

Here is the link to the current offerings etc.: https://sites.google.com/a/nrpsk12.org/enrichment/

As you are aware, we are excited to be offering grade level makerspace classes during this enrichment cycle. For the first cycle we will have grade level offerings that will complete similar lessons over the five week cycle. This will be coordinated by Mrs. Cleary our resident Makerspace expert. I have been analyzing the registrations and feel compelled to share what I see as an amazing opportunity for our students and staff as a means to increase the level of interest as well as participation. We have arranged for grade level Makerspace opportunities and have not realized the level of enrollment that we expected. I think this may be due to many reasons however, I want to share the numbers of students enrolled, a description of what the Makerspace is as well as an outline of the projects the students will be completing as a means to stimulate interest!

Currently we have the following number of students registered:

Makerspace Kindergarten           2 Students

Makerspace Grade 1                  6 Students

Makerspace Grade 2                  3 Students

Makerspace Grade 3                  2 Students

Makerspace Grade 4                  5 Students

Makerspace Grade 5                  6 Students

We are sure that you have heard that we now have a makerspace named The Creation Station. A makerspace is an environment that encourages designing, making, building, and creating through hands on exploration. Our makerspace (located in the existing computer lab space) is now available to provide opportunities for our students through classwork and during enrichment! Here is a video that outlines what a makerspace is and the types of activities that students are engaged in in these spaces: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu0iDG-sVSs

The five week sessions will focus on the following:

Robotics

Stop Motion Video

Green Screen

Tinkering
